Here's a poem to get you into the Christmas spirit…written by church member and resident poet Christine Laughead!
‘TIS THE MONTH BEFORE CHRISTMAS
‘Tis the month before Christmas, we’re all going nuts,
with so much to do, no ifs, ands, or buts.
Buy presents, string tree lights, put cards in the mail,
send packages, thread popcorn, find a turkey on sale.
Decorations need hanging all through the house,
and you haven’t a clue what to buy for your spouse.
Long lines, short tempers, tying up loose ends.
The high prices you’re fighting as your nerves start to bend.
With all our mad dashing, we’re reeling from shock.
Let’s stop for a moment and really take stock.
It’s Christmas In Waquoit so make up your list,
you’ll be done in a flash, with a flick of your wrist.
Take a moment out now, don’t get overly riled,
instead make a list for man, woman and child.
Remember your family, each boy and each girl,
You can get it all done with a ‘round the hall swirl.
You’ll find something for everyone when you walk through the door;
There are handmade items and decorations galore,
Jewelry, knick knacks, a kid’s corner, too.
And holiday music to brighten your mood.
Take time for yourself as hard as it seems,
Enjoy the kid’s laughter, excitement and dreams.
The holidays aren’t about push, rush and shove,
They’re for friendship, and sharing and brotherly love.
Peace, love, goodwill, Merry Christmas to all
We look forward to seeing you at our church parish hall.
Season’s Greetings from your friends at Waquoit Congregational Church!
