Lenten Bible Study Offered
The Massachusetts Bible Society’s highly-acclaimed interfaith bible study, “Exploring the Bible,” is being offered again at the Waquoit Congregational Church. This upcoming session is the introductory course, “What Is the Bible?” It provides a high-level view of the Bible…its history, authorship, role in society, etc. This class is geared to all levels – those who have no knowledge of the Bible and those who have a deep understanding of it. The classes run six weeks, and there are four different time classes available: Mondays, starting, Feb. 27, 5:30-7 p.m.; Tuesdays, starting Feb. 28, 6 – 7:30; Wednesdays, starting March 1, 12-1:30 p.m., and Thursdays, starting March 2, 10:30 a.m. -12 noon. All classes are free and will be held in the Parish Hall at the Waquoit Congregational Church.
The Mass Bible series is designed for people from myriad faith traditions who are interested in learning about the bible and its role in Western culture. “This series is specifically designed as an introduction to the Bible, regardless of a person’s faith tradition,” said Rev. Nell Fields, minister of the Waquoit Congregational Church. “If you want to better understand our Western culture, then it is important to know what the Bible says and doesn’t say.”
“If you want to take a class on the Bible, then this is the one class you should take,” she adds.
This study and related course materials are offered at no charge, compliments of the Priscilla K. Rollins Study Grant. The grant was established by members of the Waquoit church in memory of Mashpee resident Priscilla Rollins, a former educator and life-long learner, who participated in the inaugural Mass Bible Study courses at the church.
Participation is limited. Advanced registration is required: call 508-548-5269. Please specify session.
