Waquoit Church Holds Post Election Interfaith Prayer for Unity
Regardless who wins the 2020 presidential election, citizens and residents of this country still have a lot of work to do to bring this nation together. That is why the Waquoit Church is holding a community interfaith prayer for unity, healing, and peace the day after the election, Wednesday, Nov. 4. The event will start at 12 noon on the church lawn.
“As a person of faith, I believe the healing, unity, and peace our communities and nation needs require prayer,” said Rev. Nell Fields, minister of the Waquoit Church. “We start with prayers of words and intention, and then we use prayers of action. There’s a beautiful West African proverb that says, ‘when you pray, move your feet.’ We need to pray with our voices, our hearts, our souls, our minds, and our feet and our hands.”
Prayers from a variety of faith traditions will be offered. There will also be a period of silence, followed by music. The public is invited to attend the event.
Waquoit Church, United Church of Christ, is located at 15 Parsons Lane in E. Falmouth. For more information or if you are interested in participating, contact Rev. Fields at 339-927-8972.
