All creatures great and small – and of all faiths and feathers – are invited to Waquoit’s fifth annual Blessing of the Animals and Animal Fair on Saturday, Sept. 26 at the historic Waquoit Congregational Church in E. Falmouth. The event starts at 10 a.m. and runs until noon, rain or shine.
“Animals are so much part of our lives. They bring us so much happiness, comfort and love. It is only right that we bless them. They are part of creation-care,” said The Rev. Nell Fields, minister of the Waquoit Congregational Church. “We are supposed to take care of all of creation.”
New to the blessing will be a memorial area where people who have lost pets can bring a photo or memento in memory of their pet. Candles will available for lighting and a large rainbow for adding pets’ names.
In addition to the blessing, there is an Animal Fair, showcasing animal-related organizations and businesses. Participating groups include Falmouth Dog Park, Friends of Falmouth Dogs, People for Cats, DART and others.
Admission is free. People are encouraged to bring dog and/or cat food that will be donated to Falmouth Service Center. We request that dogs be leashed; and cats and other small animals kept in carriers.
The Waquoit Congregational Church is located at 15 Parsons Lane (the corner of Route 28 and Parsons Lane) in Waquoit, MA. Free booth space is available to businesses or organizations serving the animal community. For additional information, please call Rev. Nell Fields at 339-927-8972.
