Church news archive · Published September 21, 2013

All creatures great and small  – and of all faiths and feathers – are invited to Waquoit’s annual Blessing of the Animals and Animal Fair on Saturday, Sept. 28 at the historic Waquoit Congregational Church. The event starts at 10 a.m. and runs until noon.

“Animals are so much part of our lives. They bring us so much happiness, comfort and love. It is only right that we bless them and celebrate them and show our gratitude for what they mean in our lives,” said The Rev. Nell Fields, minister of the Waquoit Congregational Church.  “

In addition to the blessing, there is an Animal Fair, showcasing animal-related organizations and businesses. Participating groups include Friends’ of Falmouth Dogs, People for Cats, Mashpee Dog Park, South Cape Grooming, and Cape Cod Greyhound Rescue. Domino the donkey of Smithfield Farms in Hatchville will make a guest appearance during the event.

Admission is free.  People are encouraged to bring dog and/or cat food that will be donated to Falmouth Service. We request that dogs be leashed; and cats and other small animals kept in carriers.
